Credit Repair After Divorce
Divorce decrees split assets, but creditors don't care what a judge ordered — if your name is on the account, your credit is on the line. We help you separate, dispute, and rebuild.
Your position on the board
You're playing a new game with pieces that were captured during the marriage: joint cards, an ex on the mortgage, an authorized user account still dragging your score down. The opening matters.

Take the Credit Score QuizStep 1: Pull all three bureaus and audit joint accounts
Most post-divorce damage hides on one or two bureaus and not the third. Pull Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion and flag every joint, co-signed, and authorized-user line.
Step 2: Close or refinance joint debt
A divorce decree assigning a debt to your ex does not remove your liability. Either refinance the loan into one name, or close the joint account to stop new damage.
Step 3: Dispute inaccurate reporting tied to the marriage
Late payments after the separation date, charge-offs on accounts you no longer access, and duplicate collections all qualify for dispute under the FCRA.
Step 4: Rebuild positive history in your own name
Add a secured card or credit-builder loan in your name only. Two new positive tradelines reported for 6+ months will offset most divorce-era damage.
Frequently asked
Can I remove my ex's late payments from my credit?
If the account is joint, both names report. We dispute the inaccurate reporting and, where possible, get the account closed and removed from your file.
Does divorce itself hurt my credit?
Divorce isn't reported to the bureaus. What hurts your score is missed payments, collections, and high utilization caused by the financial fallout.
How long does post-divorce credit repair take?
Most clients see meaningful score movement within 60–90 days, with full restoration in 6–9 months depending on file depth.
